The Art of Teaching Yoga~Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Begins April, 2017
January 27 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The purpose of this Teacher Training Course is to educate the Yoga Teacher in different areas that will awaken their inner knowledge and teach them be able to tap into their own power and self confidence so that they may be of the greatest service to the community which they serve.
In order for a teacher to be skilled they must have a foundational understanding of yoga philosophy, yoga history, understanding the science of asana practice (which includes but is not limited to asana alignment, biomechanics of the body, when and where modifications are needed, when to use verbal cues, when to use hands on adjustments, understanding the importance of breath, understanding the importance of sequencing and working with injuries), understanding the importance of having a personal practice, understanding the importance of being a good and respectful student yourself. The aim is being authentic and always having the purest and highest intentions to embrace and empower all students. A great teacher meets the students where they are and encourages them from there. The teachers trained in this particular training will learn to guide the student to walk their edge while respecting their boundaries. The teacher will be authentic. They will say what they mean and mean what they say. The only way we can teach others to get into alignment is by personally experiencing alignment. Alignment may be in body form but it is also being aligned in the way we live. It is from this personal knowledge that the teacher teaches. Teacher training is a transformative experience where you develop a deeper understanding of your body, mind, and heart through yoga.
As the facilitator of the training I will be sharing my rich lineage from Jivamukti Yoga and various other syles from which I have studied. The Jivamukti Yoga lineage is a physical, ethical, and spiritual practice. As a Jivamukti Yoga teacher we operate through 5 tenents of yoga philosophy which include: Ahimsa (non harming), Bhakti (devotion), Nada (music and/or sound), dhyana (meditation), and shastra (study of ancient scripture). The teacher trainee will learn to teach from the heart and tradition. We always honor our teachers and those who came before them. May your studies be filled with light and love. ~ Michelle Acebo
